Questions
Do I need an account?
No. Upload a PDF, look at the free first page, pay if you want the rest. We never ask you to register and we do not want your email address.
What do I actually get?
A Word .docx file. The text is real text you can edit and search, in the fonts and sizes it had in the PDF. Tables come through as tables, and background artwork and logos are kept in place.
Is it really editable, or just a picture?
Really editable. Some converters give you an image of each page wrapped in a Word file, which looks right and cannot be changed. This is not that: click into a paragraph and type. The free first page is there so you can confirm it yourself before paying.
What happens to my file?
It is converted and held only long enough for you to download the result — within a day, both your upload and the converted document are deleted. We do not read them, and we do not use them for anything else. See the privacy policy for the detail.
My PDF is a scan. Will it work?
Probably not well. A scan is a photograph of a page with no text in it, so there is nothing to make editable. We will tell you when a document converts poorly, and you will not be charged for it.
How much does it cost?
It depends on length, starting at $2.49 and capped for very long documents. The first page is always free. Full details are on the pricing page.
Why am I being asked to prove I am a person?
Converting a document costs us work whether or not anyone pays for it, so we check that uploads come from people rather than scripts, and we limit how many one visitor can convert in a short period. If you are converting a few documents in a row you may be asked to wait a little. Nothing about you is stored either way.
Can I get a refund?
The free first page exists so you can judge the conversion before paying, which is the fairest way we know to avoid the question. If something still went wrong, write to support@convertpdf2docx.com and we will sort it out.
Is there an API?
Yes. The conversion service behind this site has a REST and gRPC API and a .NET client library. Write to support@convertpdf2docx.com if you would like access.
